BE A PART OF OUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY TO EASTER! We are gathering devotions for a church wide devotional guide for this upcoming Lent. If you would like to contribute to this please contact Olivia Pruett at the church office.
THE ANGEL TREE is up in the Great Hall. The gifts given go to the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home. We have been asked to spend between $20 and $50 on each gift. Please leave UNWRAPPED gifts in the original bag along with the receipt and the angel card under the angel tree. If a gift card is given please put the dollar amount on the card itself. Donations of gift bags and tissue are welcome. Please return your gift to the church no later than December 3. Each year you have all been very generous and your continued support is a blessing!
FLOOD RELIEF UPDATE: Praise God for the $11,869 raised in order to help with flood relief over the last few months. Our half of the costs for the clean up buckets sent to UMCOR totaled $7650.45. We have $4218.55 remaining to send people into the mission field to bring the love and hope of Christ. Thank you for your faithfulness!
ADVENT & CHRISTMAS PREPARATION - Help us prepare the church for Advent and Christmas on Sunday, November 27, 28 & 30 at 1:00 p.m. Much must be done and many are needed. COME WATCH “The Star: The story of the First Christmas” December 10 at 3:00 p.m. as a church at Tinseltown. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased after worship or from the church office.
IT’S TIME FOR POINSETTIAS! If you would like to place a poinsettia in memory or in honor of someone or if you would like to make a donation to Christmas Beauty in honor or memory of someone, you may do so by stopping in the Great Hall and filling out an order form. Poinsettias are $10 each. Deadline to order is December 11.

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE at the Desiard Street Shelter, located at 807 DeSiard St. Monroe, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18. The Shelter regularly serves meals to the homeless in the Monroe area. It has also recently begun providing overnight housing to 30 to 40 homeless men and eight to ten homeless women. Guests attending the open house are asked to bring with them one or more of the following items: toilet paper, gently used or new coats, winter caps and hats, new pairs of socks, blankets, new underwear and ladies undergarments and gloves. Also needed are boxes of laundry detergent and giant #10 cans of baked beans, corn and green beans, pancake syrup and gallons of apple juice. CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY MINISTRIES is in need of any donations. They accept used men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing and shoes, as well as bedding and kitchenware (for burnouts). They are especially in need of men’s casual pants and jeans, belts, shoes, and jackets. There are boxes located at each end of the Great Hall for your donations or at CCM located at 322 Harrison St. Our church now has 7 volunteers that work various days Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. to noon. These items are given to homeless and low-income families. Your response to the men’s underwear drive was overwhelming. Thank you.
INTERESTED IN JOINING FUMC MONROE? Our next First Connection Class will be November 26 at 4:00 p.m. in the church parlor. The first step to membership at FUMC Monroe is to attend First Connection. Call Linda in the church office & register. Childcare is provided upon request.
PICTORIAL DIRECTORIES ARE STILL AVAILABLE! If you haven’t picked yours up yet please stop by the church office to get your copy. If you would like a copy, but did not have your picture taken, they are $5 a piece.
OWL salsas and jellies have been restocked and available for purchase at the table located by the church office door. Jelly is $6 and salsa is $5 a jar. Proceeds benefit the United Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston.
